Is my renovation covered by the Tarion warranty?

No. Tarion covers new Ontario homes, freehold and contract homes, condominium units and condominium conversions, and it explicitly excludes alterations, deletions and additions made after purchase. A renovation to a house you already own is outside it.

What protects you on a renovation is the written contract, the contractor's certificate of insurance and a current WSIB clearance certificate. Ask for all three in writing before work starts, from us or from anyone else quoting the job.
